E, I, E, I, Oooo. When we were up at Grandma and Grandpa's house the weekend before last, Ethan got to see a few animals he hadn't seen before.

Ultimate Granola

Mike and I enjoy watching cooking shows and recently Mike came across a particularly good one. The following receipe is from Tylers Ultimates and it is both very yummy and very easy. Enjoy!

ULTIMATE GRANOLA

4 cups rolled oats

1.5 cups raw almonds

1/2 cup flax seeds or pepitas (I used pepitas)

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup canola oil

1 tsp vanila

desired dried fruit

Preheat oven 300 degrees. Mix dry ingredients. Warm honey and oil in pan and add vanilla. Stir. Pour over dry ingredients. Mix well but gently. Spread evenly onto cookie sheet. Bake 20 min. Stir. Bake another 20 min. Cool and break up any clumps. Add dried fruit as desired.

We are the Champions

While you are reading this post, "We are the Champions" by Queen should be playing in your head. For the last 29 years, 6 months and 3 days I have not been able to beat my dad in ping pong. I haven't even been able to get the better of him when he is playing with his weaker left hand. That all changed on June 1st (I'm a little behind on blog updates) when my family came for a visit. I was hoping that I had improved since we got the table in November but I wasn't holding my breath. He let me have the special paddle and he played me left handed and shockingly I beat him! He wasn't so happy about that so he made a quick run to the store so he could play with a special paddle too. I guess he figured that was why I won. Well he came back armed with his paddle and played me right handed and after a fierce battle I was the CHAMPION! Mike then played him and he beat him for the first time as well! The Cleary's rule! Ahhhh...victory is sweet.

Congratulations Aunty Em!

School is out and Emily has officially graduated from high school!

She is on her way to Biola University and you can see that Ethan is very proud of his Aunty. Nice job Em, we love you and are very proud of you too.

I'm 4 months old!

Ethan had his 4 month checkup today and our suspicions that he has been on a serious growing spurt have been confirmed. He was 26.5 inches long which puts him in the 95th % and 15 lbs 13 oz (70th %). Hmmm...I guess this is why he is already moving into 6-12 month clothes! Grandpa, you will be proud to know that the Dr said he was very advanced in his verbal skills. You should have seen him flirting with the nurse. He was pulling out all the stops with his giggling, squawking and his newest achievement of sticking his tongue out and blowing air. What a charmer!
