Picnic with the girls

I had the joy of meeting Emily Johnson when Natalie, Jen and I got together for a somewhat imprompto picnic. Emily is adorable, tiny and makes sweet little noises. It amazes me that Ethan was like that only 6 weeks ago. You would never guess that Natalie delivered Emily only a week and a half prior--the Johnsons are off to a great start!

Ethan did great at his first picnic and one messy diaper and outfit change later I got to eat too. :) Laekin had a great time admiring the babies and pushing the empty stroller around the park. I think she managed to get stuck on every tree there.

Easter with the Hammonds

Today was a day of more big firsts for Ethan. Grandpa Doug held Ethan for the very first time (Grandpa was afraid Ethan was a little too fragile when he met him at the hospital). Judging from how relaxed they are I'd say they both rather enjoyed it. :)

Great Grandma (the only "great" grandparent Ethan has) met Ethan for the first time and they hit it off!

Travel

This weekend is Ethan's first overnight trip. I don't think Ethan is the least bit fazed by the changes but it's certainly a challenge for Mike and I. As novice parents when the small amount of schedule we've carved out is taken away we have to scramble to adjust. Thankfully Ethan started sleeping better again and went 5.5 hrs last night. All in all it's been wonderful to see family and Ethan has performed well by showing off all his smiles. See below...

Easter Visit with the Clearys

We went up to Santa Clarita this weekend and Grandpa Dave got to see Ethan in person for the first time since the hospital. He's changed a little, huh?

Visit from India

My dear friend Heather and her husband Peter are in CA for a short visit from India. We had a wonderful time over lunch catching up on life. Many blessings to them during Heather's pregnancy. Ethan will have a buddy over seas sometime around September!

1 Month Old

I'm just a tad late getting this posted but better late than never...Ethan was 1 month old on March 3rd. He weighed in at just over 10 lbs and was in the 60th percentile on both length and weight. I can't believe he's already a month old...or rather almost 6 weeks...either way time is flying by in somewhat of a sleepless fog. Mike and I enjoy our cuddle time with him and we continue to be amazed that God has given us this beautiful baby to love and take care of.

I love him each day a little more. It doesn't hurt that he's sleeping longer at night and I can somewhat anticipate how much sleep I'm going to get. The early days when I would alternate with one hour awake, one hour sleep was a test of my endurance. A little encouragement to all our friends who are about to have babies--you will get sleep again!

Off to the the mall

This is actually from last week but Ethan and I made our first trip to the mall to pick up a couple of things. Julie and Ezra kept us company. Ethan slept the entire time thanks in part to Julie keeping the stroller moving when I had to make a purchase. : ) I wasn't entirely relaxed but I still enjoyed the time and we accomplished our errands.

Grandma Jeanne came for a visit!

Ethan's Grandma Jeanne came for a short visit on Tue and left early this morning. The help was much appreciated because Mike and I are both under the weather. Ethan hasn't gotten it and I'm so thankful! God has such amazing design.

This is the first time that my mom (Grandma Jeanne) has been here since Ethan was a week old. She said he has changed so much in what he is doing with his hands, his alertness and his additional chub. :0)

Greetings!

It is a lovely Sat afternoon and a few moments while Ethan is sleeping allows me to finally start this blog. I plan to keep this updated with current Ethan pictures and let you know what new amazing things he is learning. :-)

Ethan is now one month (as of March 3rd) and he seems to be getting bigger every day. He is starting to track with his eyes and I think some of those smiles are for me. Mike and I continue to be amazed that he is here and that he's ours. God has truly blessed us! I wouldn't mind getting more sleep but he had a 5 hr stretch last night so I really can't complain.

The picture here is Ethan last Sat which is 4 weeks. Notice that he is wearing soccer shoes. He has already shown some preference for soccer. :-)
