What did he say?

"No Way!"

What do you think Ethan is saying? Grandpa, this is your chance to get some political tidbit in. :)

Last day of summer!

Mike and I had a somewhat impromptu BBQ with some friends at the park by our house last Sunday night and it was a perfect way to spend the last day of summer!

Alumni Game

Ever since I had Ethan I've been looking forward to the Biola women's soccer alumni game in part because it's fun to see old friends and their new babies but mostly because I didn't want motherhood to be the end of my soccer days. Well, I had hoped to be in better shape but it wasn't all bad. The alumni tied 2-2 and won in shoot outs. The game was planned on very short notice so there wasn't a great tournout but I still got to see Mary, two week old Samuel, Bekah, Sara, 5 mo old Johonna and Lexy (who didn't make this picture).

Don't you just love the hair? Ethan already loves soccer and watched the whole game with his dad. I must say the game was motivation for me to get in to respectable shape!

Happy Birthday Aunt Emily and Rocky

Today is Emy and Rocky's birthday (Emy turned 18 and Rocky turned 15). We celebrated by having a small family get-together at Sara's house (Mike's aunt) and we ate good! Deya and Sara did all the cooking and it was a feast. Thank you ladies!

In honor of Em's ability to vote in the coming election, she got a patriotic pic. :)
Here's a shot of Aunt Mimi and her grandson Robbie with Mike and Ethan.

Encounter at the Park

We had the house sprayed yesterday for ants so I'm looking for ways to get out with Ethan. We went to the park today where Ethan had lunch and played a little while. There was a little girl who was interested in our little picnic. Here's how the conversation went:

little girl: She has a messy face.

me: He's a boy and yes, he has a messy face. He's eating carrots.

little girl: Is this your baby?

me: Yes. (What did she think, I might have borrowed him?)

little girl: Is your baby a newborn?

me: Well, he was born 7 months ago.

little girl: Where did you get all this baby stuff?

me: Ummm...the store actually.

And then she turned around and left without any more clever questions. Here's a picture of my carrot faced baby.

Dinner with Grandma and Grandpa

My parents were in OC for a concert at the Orange County Performing Arts Center on Sat and we met them for dinner at Z Tejas in South Coast Plaza. We had a very yummy meal (I highly recommend the restuarant) and wandered through a small portion of the mall. Ethan found South Coast Plaza to be slightly overwhelming and he hardly made a sound or expression because he was so busy taking it all in. Fun night. :)

2nd tooth, Denver, croup and Tita comes to the rescue!

Well, life has been a bit busy since we got back from camping. Ethan got his 2nd tooth a little over a week ago and thank heaven it's through! Mike left for Denver last Tue and Ethan promptly came down with a cold that turned into croup. God sent help in the form of Tita (Mike's mom) who arrived on Fri night. She took turns with me all night long helping me with him when he would wake up coughing and choking. Thank you so much Tita! I hope you get some good rest tonight. :) Mike is back from Denver and Ethan is on the mend. Here is a picture of Mike drumming with Ethan after he got home today. Think he's happy to see his Da Da?
